From May to August 2012 the exhibition will show around forty groundbreaking positions of a younger generation of international artists living and working in Germany. It will establish connections between their works and investigate similarities, tendencies and artistic developments. With this exhibition the three Hanover institutions build upon the success of “Made in Germany” in 2007. For Made in Germany Zwei the idea of the original show has been further developed by a joint team, which will curate the exhibition across all three institutions. Thematic emphases illustrate and relate today’s artistic concerns. Current tendencies, artistic approaches and forms of expression are examined and discussed in reference to Germany’s very international art world. Numerous participating artists are developing new works especially for Made in Germany Zwei.
The thematic emphases of the presentation will be further explored in an extensive programme of supporting events. The exhibition is curated by Susanne Figner, Martin Germann, Antonia Lotz, Kathrin Meyer, Carina Plath, Gabriele Sand, Kristin Schrader, Ute Stuffer and René Zechlin.
In “Made in Germany” in 2007 the three institutions introduced fifty-two artistic positions. By contrast to the globally oriented documenta in Kassel, which took place at the same time, the presentation concentrated on the art scene in Germany.

A proverb tells us that "the grass is always greener on the other side", reminding us that distant locations always appear greater than they are when seen from afar. But where is this other side in the 21th century? When traveling physically, one often cannot escape the feeling that places are becoming more similar, more commodified, more corporate-ruled. The omnipresent digital medium video travels via internet around the globe and stimulates international dialogue across borders like no other visual medium at the moment. A new generation of video artists speaks up: 
GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE presents a selection of international video artists whose work reflects the issues of this globalized generation. GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE does not present videos on a specific theme, but shows a collage image of the subconscious of our present. Personal and global issues clash as the individual struggles with society. Often humoristic or absurdist approaches are used to come to terms with not-so-funny topics:
Expect videos about learning to kill, the thin line between entertainment and news, the invisibility of death, the failure of humans to construct useful machines, the pitfalls of relationships and marriage, unfulfilled expectations, second identities on the internet, extreme psychological conditions, the search for the perfect self, the movie star as a role model, the rise and fall of empires, the disillusions of sex, the perversion of tourism, the threats of global warming and the economic crisis, the proximity of happiness and sadness, the attempt to understand your family, and how to still be an artist after all.

GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE is a traveling video festival, initiated by artist Clemens Wilhelm (Berlin) in 2011. It showed at Organhaus Art Space, Chongqing (CN) and SIM The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists, Reykjavik (IS). It is now coming to Meneer de Wit, Amsterdam (NL) and Buitenwerkplaats Artist Residency, Starnmeer (NL).
